The AFL is advertising for the role of Community Umpiring Development Manager following the announcement that Damian Anderson will finish his tenure this November.
This position is vital to the day-to-day management of community football leagues and, more specifically, community umpiring associations.
The aim the role is to collaboratively develop, implement and oversee a national Community Umpiring Development strategy in consultation with all state/territory bodies and drive growth in umpire participation through increased recruitment and retention, high quality umpiring performance, and education and development programs that promote inclusive, sustainable and quality environments.
The strategy developed will be the principle guide that community competitions, including the VAFA, will implement to ensure umpires develop with numerous support programs to effectively manage and service the game on a weekend.
The relationship the VAFA umpiring department has with the Community Umpiring Development Manager role is crucial to the successful execution of umpiring programs by regularly reviewing, modifying and improving;
The VAFA umpiring team thanks Damian for his work and looks forward to working with the next Community Umpiring Development Manager to help take the VAFA umpiring program to the next level.
