Whitefriars FC has found a worthy replacement for outgoing champion, Kristan Height, appointing Vermont FC premiership player, Luc Matthews, as senior men’s coach.
Matthews was a part of five premierships at Vermont before tasting further success at Blackburn and Upwey Tecoma.
The club, which farewelled Height last week as he joins the Hawthorn coach staff, said Matthews is the perfect fit as they continue their journey in Division 1.
“His early days were spent at Vermont Football Club where he progressed from Juniors into Senior football with five premierships along the way,” the club wrote.
“He then moved to Blackburn where he played in a Senior Premiership (2002) and went on to lead the club as captain for three seasons. He then moved to more premiership success as a player at Upwey Tecoma in 2008.
“Along the way Luc has thrown himself into coaching at both junior and senior level, most recently at Blackburn as the Reserves Coach with a win/loss ratio above 80%. He also held a part-time development role with Western Bulldogs VFLW in 2019.
“Luc has been involved in success during his football journey and he is looking forward to continuing this at the Friars, and we can’t wait to get back into action.”
