The VAFA congratulates Petro Pirozek from Melbourne High School Old Boys Football Club, who has received the Men’s Anytime Fitness Rising Star nomination for Round 17. Petro has pulled together a consistent first full year in the seniors, and an important 1-goal performance that earned him a spot in the best from the weekend.
What the club said:
A true Melbourne High School Old Boy, Petro captained the school First XVIII in 2021. Following graduation, Petro joined the Unicorns in 2022. He made an immediate impact in his first season being named under 19’s captain and went on to feature in 6 senior games, being named in the best 3 times. He finished the season as the under 19’s second Best and Fairest and won the prestigious Albon-Betheras Award as the best performed player under 21 in the senior side.
In 2023, Petro has established himself as a key senior player – starting each week in the midfield where he excels winning the hard ball, and breaking away from congestion. Petro is excellent overhead, has a raking left foot and regularly impacts the scoreboard, including a season high 4 goals in round 4. MHSOBFC are fortunate to have an emerging star of the division and an emerging leader of the club in Petro Pirozek.
