2025 Holmesglen Under 19 Premier Men’s Fixture

The Holmesglen Under 19 Premier Men’s competition provided some thrilling footy in 2024, with so much exciting young talent on display.

Old Brighton (15-3) claimed the minor premiership by two games over St Kevin’s, with Old Scotch and Uni Blues a game further back to round out the Final 4.

But SKOB turned the finals series on its head by knocking the Tonners over in an epic 4-point Second Semi-Final, before the minor premiers took care of the Cardinals on Preliminary Final Day to set up a rematch on Grand Final Day.

Another nail-biter was expected, and both teams certainly delivered. In a classic Grand Final that went all the way to the final siren, Old Brighton reversed their 4-point Second Semi loss to win the flag by the same margin.

There has been one change to the section, with Under 19 Division 1 Men’s premiers Hampton Rovers rising to Premier level at the expense of last season’s wooden-spooners, Beaumaris.

Rovers went 14-4 in the home & away season to finish second to St Bernards, but then defeated the Snowdogs twice in the finals – by 35 in the Second Semi, then by 21 on Grand Final Day.

Their first challenge at the top level will be Old Xaverians as Xavs christen their newly redeveloped Toorak Park in Round 1 on Saturday, April 5.

We won’t have to wait long for the Grand Final rematch, with SKOB hosting Old Brighton in a Round 3 blockbuster. The reigning champs to open their premiership defence with home games against St Bedes/Mentone Tigers and Willy CYMS before facing their rivals on enemy territory after the Easter bye.

The mid-season double-bye will again be a feature of the fixture, with a three-week gap between Rounds 12 and 13, allowing for the Big V Rep weekend followed by a bye.

The final round of the home & away season will take place on Saturday August 30 and will be directly followed by a three week Finals Series kicking off on the weekend of September 6-7.

The Holmesglen Under 19 Premier Men’s Grand Final will be played on the weekend of September 20-21, with all matches in the finals series once again live-streamed on Kommunity TV.
