The 2025 VAFA season kicked-off in style across Melbourne on the weekend. We take a look at some of the highlights.
The VAFA’s newest club, Port Melbourne Chargers, played their first ever game with their first ever goal in the Division 4 Women’s game captured by VAFA Media at JL Murphy Reserve, as they went on to record a convincing victory over Oakleigh.
The Chargers’ Premier B Women’s side went down to Old Melburnians by three points in a nail-biter – you can watch the full replay here.
Over at Camberwell Sports Ground, Old Scotch unveiled their William Buck Premier Men’s premiership flag ahead of their opening round clash against St Kevin’s. The Cardinals started their campaign in style, recording a 14-point victory.
There was thrilling finish at Melbourne University Oval, where St Bernard’s kicked a goal after the siren to defeat Uni Blues by a point, sparking crazy scenes by the Snowdogs supporters.
And finally at Parkdale, there was a touching tribute to honour Holly Bowles & Bianca Jones, with players from the Parkdale Vultures, St Bedes/Mentone and Old Carey joining the Beaumaris Sharks in paying their respects.
