Amateur Footballer Record – Week 9
Read the week nine edition of The Amateur Footballer as we review round eight and preview the upcoming weekend of action as VAFA footy returns after the Kings Birthday bye.
The VAFA is proud to celebrate the outstanding contributions of volunteers who go above and beyond to support their clubs and embody the values of our community. Each month, we receive nominations that highlight inspiring stories of dedication, leadership, and impact and May was no exception.
Congratulations to Paul Taylor from Prahran FC, who has been named The Pass Volunteer of the Month for May!
Paul was nominated by Club President Fabio Maya in recognition of his incredible contribution to the club aligns with VAFA’s value of Community. He has been involved with Prahran FC for over 50 years, including nearly 30 years in various official roles. Paul has also played a key role in the club’s development and its merger efforts since the 1990s.
“Paul is Vice President, and also on Toorak Park Users group committee that helped the development of new clubrooms. He is on the Prahran Board and drives the Women’s football and is the man trying to get an Under 19’s team up in 2026.
He is the first to arrive and since retiring he is doing hours every day covering football issues for the club. As a past player in the club’s VFA days, he also spearheads the Past Players functions. Paul is passionate and bleeds two blues and the club would be lost without him. He also drove the merger of Prahran and Southbank in late 90’s and got Prahran back on Toorak Park. He is a legend of our footy club.”
We commend Paul for their continued contribution to the club and the wider VAFA community.
Nominations for June are now open! Submit your nominations for The Pass Volunteer of the Month, now recognising contributions aligned with any of the VAFA values.
