The VAFA is proud to celebrate the outstanding contributions of volunteers who go above and beyond to support their clubs and embody the values of our community. Each month, we receive nominations that highlight inspiring stories of dedication, leadership, and impact and June was no exception.
Congratulations to John Hands from Old Carey FC, who has been named The Pass Volunteer of the Month for June!
John was nominated by Club Secretary Sam Hassett in recognition of his incredible contribution to the club aligns with VAFA’s value of Community.
“With 50+ years of service – John via Roles on the Executive and Coaching guided the club through near extinction in 80s, and established the Unders Program. His service continues to this day – he performs many backbreaking tasks: Team manager, Game day logistics, Honorary committee member, Equipment manager, Canteen and bar stock/reconciliation, Food server, Major Sponsor.
Despite retiring from his professional interests, John contributes generously in a financial sense and is loved by generations of panther players.”
We commend John for their continued contribution to the club and the wider VAFA community.
