At the VAFA, we’re proud to recognise the incredible efforts of coaches who give their all to support their clubs and live out the values of our community. Every month, we hear powerful stories of leadership, dedication and impact, and July brought forward some truly inspiring nominations.
Congratulations to Jack Amies from Albert Park FC who has been named the Carruthers Executive Community Coach of the Month!
Jack was nominated by Alastair Lupo (club player) for his outstanding dedication and his strong embodiment of the VAFA’s core values of Inclusive. Jack has been at the club for over seven years and has been in the coaching role for over three years where he is creating a positive impact within the club.
Below is the nomination submitted by Alister Lupo:
“Jack Amies took over as head coach of the Albert Park Falcons midway through the 2023 season, immediately making his mark by guiding the team to a grand final appearance and securing promotion. Known for his strong leadership and inclusive approach, Jack has transformed the club culture. Under his guidance, the Falcons have grown to boast a senior men’s squad of over 80 players in 2025, a testament to the environment he has fostered.
Despite a slow 0-3 start to the current season, Amies kept belief within the group. The Falcons have since won 8 of their last 9 games, with their only loss coming by just four points to a Powerhouse — a sign of how far they’ve come. One of Jack’s key strengths lies in his inclusive coaching style; both senior and reserves players train together, building unity, competition, and club-wide improvement. His focus on development, team culture, and resilience has turned the Falcons into a serious contender and a club that players want to be part of.”
We commend Jack for his enduring commitment to his club and to the broader VAFA community.
