VAFA Live Coverage – September 13-14

By Jason Bennett · September 12, 2025
VAFA Live Coverage – September 13-14

We’re at the pointy end of the season & we have some fantastic live action for you this weekend, including BOTH William Buck Premier Men’s Semi Finals, Preliminary Finals in Premier Women’s & Under 19 Premier, plus Grand Final action in Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 Men’s!

Here are the details & stream links for another big weekend:

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 13

It’s a Kommunity TV TRIPLE HEADER, featuring BOTH William Buck Premier Men’s Semi Finals & the Holmesglen Under 19 Premier Preliminary Final:

1.45pm – PREMIER MEN’S 1st SEMI FINAL: ST KEVIN’S vs OLD SCOTCH

It’s sudden death as SKOB & the Cardinals fight to keep their season alive.

St Kevin’s peeled off 7 straight wins before resting 13 players in their final round loss to the Snowdogs.

The Cards have come from the clouds to win their last 3 matches & sneak into the Final 4 at the death.

These two teams split their home & away meetings in 2025 – Old Scotch unfurled their flag in style with a 14-point win in Round 1, before SKOB turned the tables by 11 points at home in Round 9.

They met on Preliminary Final Day last year, when the Cards powered away with a stunning 7-goal-to-1 final term. This year they’ll meet to decide who MAKES IT to Preliminary Day Final. Only one can.

Catch the action streaming LIVE on Kommunity TV, with radio coverage on VAFA.com.au & the SEN app from 1.45pm Saturday!

2.15pm – PREMIER MEN’S 2nd SEMI FINAL: OLD BRIGHTON vs OLD XAVERIANS

These two teams have been the pacesetters all season and finished well clear of the field.

The Tonners have barely put a foot wrong in 2025, racking up 16 wins and 2 losses once again to collect back-to-back minor premierships by 1 game and 2.5%. But, after the disappointment of last September, their season really starts now.

Old Xavs entered 2025 on a mission to return to finals action after missing out on September in agonising circumstances last year.

The Tonners have won the last 4 against Xavs by an average of 45 points, including both meetings this season – by 61 points at Toorak Park in Round 6, then a 33-point win at Fortress Brighton in Round 15.

Who prevails on neutral ground & takes the express route to Grand Final Day?

Find out, streaming LIVE & EXCLUSIVE on Kommunity TV, with our award-winning radio coverage on VAFA.com.au & the SEN app from 2.15pm Saturday!

And if you’re heading to the game – TAKE YOUR EARPHONES – and enjoy our commentary in REAL-TIME via SEN’s Stadium technology on the SEN App.

The SEN App is available for iPhone and Android, and works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Then straight after the 2nd Semi, stick around on Kommunity TV as we bring you the Holmesglen Under 19 Premier Preliminary Final from Elsternwick Park:

5.10pm – UNDER 19 PREMIER PRELIMINARY FINAL: ST KEVIN’S vs UNIVERSITY BLUES

It’s a twilight showdown as ST KEVIN’S face UNI BLUES under lights for a ticket to next weekend’s Holmesglen Under 19 Premier Grand Final.

Last season’s runners-up SKOB were blown away by Old Brighton in the second term last week, before stabilising to break even with the Tonners in the second half. But the damage was done and the 32-point loss has propelled them into this tricky Preliminary Final.

Uni Blues got one back on the Cardinals (who eliminated them from the 2024 race) by returning the favour in the 1st Semi Final. They dominated the opening half with 15 scores to 6, but failed to fully capitalise, only leading by 14 points at the main break. However, they hit the target more often in the second half, powering away to an impressive 31-point win.

Who will win through for a shot at denying Old Brighton back-to-back premierships?

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 14

We’ve got 4 live streams for you to enjoy on Sunday – the William Buck Premier Women’s PRELIMINARY FINAL, the DIVISION 1 MEN’S Grand Final, and a POWER HOUSE GRAND FINAL DOUBLE HEADER!

PREMIER WOMEN’S PRELIMINARY FINAL – CAULFIELD GRAMMARIANS vs ST KEVIN’S (Sunday 2pm)

These two teams finished on the opposite side of Semi Final thrillers last weekend.

The Fields put three quarters of disappointing football behind them to fight back from 25 points down, only to fall just one kick short of direct progression to Grand Final Day. It was a fightback that will instil confidence in the minor premiers as they eye off earning a return bout against Old Scotch in the decider next week.

But first they’ll have to get past the 3-time champions, who also came storming home in their Semi Final against Kew. Trailing by 10 points at the final change (and having kicked just one goal for the day), they booted 4 goals to 1 in the last quarter as their stars lifted and managed to keep their dream of five consecutive Grand Finals alive.

Each holds a win over the other this season – the Fields by 21 points in Round 6, then the Saints turned the tables in a 2-point thriller in Round 13.

The defending champion Scotch Stars await the winner.

Who will it be? Enjoy our LIVE & EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE on Kommunity TV from 2pm Sunday!

We also have four LIVE & FREE STREAMS on VAFA.com.au for you to enjoy:

DIVISION 1 MEN’S GRAND FINAL – ORMOND vs OLD PENINSULA (Sunday 2pm)

What a premiership decider this promises to be!

Ormond put together a perfect 18-0 home & away season, finishing 4 games clear of Old Peninsula, then defeated the Pirates by 17 points in the Second Semi Final.

Old Peninsula then defeated Kew by 56 points in the Preliminary Final to set up the rematch against the Monders. Former Melbourne champion Nathan Jones has joined his old school mates at the Pirates and will run out in pursuit of his (and his club’s) first senior premiership.

They have played in 7 Senior Grand Finals since joining the VAFA in 1980, but are yet to lift the cup.

Ormond, on the other hand, will be hunting their 15th senior flag and their first since winning the Division 1 title in 2018.

Two teams worthy of playing Premier C football next season, but who will finish this successful campaign by hoisting the silverware?

Settle in for what promises to be a premiership decider packed full of emotion, streaming LIVE & FREE on VAFA.com.au from 2pm Sunday!

DIVISION 2 MEN’S GRAND FINAL – OLD YARRA COBRAS vs ST MARY’S SALESIAN (Sunday 2.20pm)

The Top 2 teams in Division 2 meet the decide the title in what has all the makings of a thrilling Grand Final!

Only half a game separated them during the home & away season, with the Cobras snatching the minor premiership with a 15-2-1 record.

They met in the Second Semi Final and put on a classic at Preston. St Mary’s Salesian led by 19 points at the first change before Old Yarra Cobras bounced back to draw within a point at the major break.

It was St Mary’s Salesian by a kick at the last change, and just one goal was kicked in a thrilling final term. It went to the Cobras, who tied the game up at the 12-minute mark. In the end, it was the Old Yarra Cobras straight through to Grand Final Day by a single point.

St Mary’s Salesian bounced back to defeat South Melbourne by 25 points in the Preliminary Final and set up this rematch.

Old Yarra Cobras are chasing their 7th senior premiership and their first since their Division 3 flag in 2012, while St Mary’s Salesian are hunting their 4th senior title and their first since their Division 2 premiership in 1996.

Two evenly-matched teams. One premiership cup.

Catch the action, streaming LIVE & FREE on VAFA.com.au from 2.20pm Sunday!

Plus, we have a POWER HOUSE GRAND FINAL DOUBLE HEADER for you to enjoy:

DIVISION 3 MEN’S RESERVES GRAND FINAL – POWER HOUSE vs RICHMOND CENTRAL (Sunday 11.15am)

We kick off the double-header with the decider between Power House & Richmond Central – the two standout teams of Div 3 Reserves in 2025.

Power House claimed the minor premiership with a perfect 18-0 record, two games clear of Richmond Central. The dominance of these two teams is reflected in their whopping percentages: Power House 495.6% and Richmond Central 452.8%!

Their Second Semi Final clash was eagerly anticipated as a result, and Power House did their work early, jumping out to a 3-goal half-time lead in difficult conditions for accurate scoring. Both teams were restricted to a goal apiece in the second half as Power House won through to Grand Final Day with a 17-point win: 7.10 (52) to 4.11 (35).

The Snakes then rebounded with an impressive all-the-way Preliminary Final win over La Trobe University. They booted 5.2 to 0.1 in the opening term to jump out to a 31-point lead and were never really headed, leading by 18, 39 and ultimately winning by 21 points.

All eyes will be on centurion goalkicker Jake Dillon, who has booted 104 goals this season – incredibly, his first as a full-time forward!

Power House are chasing their third Reserves premiership since joining the VAFA in 1940, while Richmond Central are hunting their second to sit alongside their one senior premiership flag in 1994.

Can ‘Jake the Snake’ cap off an unforgettable season by realising his premiership dream, or will Power House complete the perfect season and raise the trophy in triumph?

It’s the perfect way to kick off this Grand Final double-header, streaming LIVE & FREE on VAFA.com.au from 11.15am Sunday!

DIVISION 3 MEN’S GRAND FINAL – POWER HOUSE vs NORTH BRUNSWICK (Sunday 2pm)

Then it’s time for the Senior showdown.

Power House were the pacesetters in Division 3 this season, claiming the minor premiership on percentage ahead of Wattle Park, then defeated the Animals by 28 points in the 2nd Semi Final.

North Brunswick finished 3rd and defeated the 4th placed Richmond Central by 38 points in the 1st Semi, then hung on in a thrilling 3-point Preliminary Final against Wattle Park (after leading by 21 points at the last change).

These two teams hold a narrow win over the other this season – North Brunswick by 7 points in Round 8, and Power House by 12 points in Round 16.

Power House have won 5 senior premierships in club history, with the most recent being their Division 4 flag in 2006 and their Division 3 title in 2000.

North Brunswick joined the VAFA in 1971 and have won 3 senior premierships, with their most recent being the 2018 Division 4 title (when the Bulls did the Seniors-Reserves double). This would be their second Div 3 flag after winning it in 1974.

Both will rise to play Division 2 football next season, but only one of them will do so having added to their trophy cabinet.

Enjoy the decider, streaming LIVE & FREE on VAFA.com.au from 2pm Sunday!
