The VAFA is proud to celebrate the outstanding contributions of volunteers who go above and beyond to support their clubs and embody the values of our community. Each month, we receive nominations that highlight inspiring stories of dedication, leadership, and impact and August was no exception.
Congratulations to Lee Young from Beaumaris FC, who has been named The Pass Volunteer of the Month for August!
Lee was nominated by Club Secretary, Walter Tedde, in recognition of their incredible contribution to the club and strong alignment with the VAFA value of Community. For more than fifteen years, Lee has served the club in various capacities, consistently dedicating their time and energy to ensuring the club’s growth and long-term sustainability.
“Lee Young epitomises what the Beaumaris Football Club aspires to be. A clear example of community engagement, spirit, leadership, and service. Her involvement with the club spans over many, many years, during which she has significantly shaped our culture, strengthened our community ties, and created an environment where players, supporters, and visiting clubs feel genuinely valued and respected.
Her attributes of humility, integrity, and boundless energy has earned her the respect of the playing group. Whether it’s supporting senior players through personal challenges, or welcoming new families into the club, Lee always prioritizes relationships and wellbeing above all else. She knows every player’s name, celebrates every milestone due to her diligent record keeping, and is the first to step in and “get the job done.
Due to Lee’s organisation and genuine care, the Beaumaris Football Club is a place where people feel valued and connected. From organising umpires, venues, equipment, merchandise, social events or assisting with fixturing, to building partnerships with sponsors, Lee ensures the club is both inclusive and progressive. Her work fostering respectful relationships with opposition clubs and the league has helped establish and nurture a culture of sportsmanship and mutual support.
One standout initiative in 2025 has been her role in assisting with the organization and realization of the inaugural ‘Shining Bright for Holly & Bianca weekend’. Designed to support both families, yet deepen and strengthen the support networks between players, families and the wider football community, this event brought the local and wider football communities together.
Her continued and tireless contributions align seamlessly with our core value of community connection.
For her outstanding volunteer service, Lee Young is truly deserving of The Pass Volunteer of the Month. She exemplifies the true spirit of what volunteerism and why community is integral in maintaining connection.”
We commend Lee for their continued contribution to the club and the wider VAFA community.
The 2025 Monthly Recognition Awards have now come to an end, with August marking the final award of the season. Over the past few months, it has been truly inspiring to read the many stories shared about our volunteers, their dedication, leadership, and the incredible impact they continue to make both on and off the field. These awards have highlighted the positive influence volunteers have in shaping culture, supporting players, and strengthening clubs across the VAFA.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a volunteer throughout the 2025 season.
