FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 26
11.30am – PREMIER MEN’S RESERVES GRAND FINAL: OLD XAVERIANS vs ST KEVIN’S
We kick off Premier Men’s Grand Final Day with the Top 2 Reserves teams clashing for the silverware.
Old Xaverians finished two games clear on top of the ladder, with a 17-1 record and an impressive percentage of 317.04%
St Kevin’s went 15-3 in the home & away season, but fell 6 goals short of Xavs in the Second Semi Final before bouncing back to demolish Old Brighton by 111 points in the Preliminary Final.
These two teams have met three times this season, with Xavs saluting in all three – by 24 points in Round 2, 46 points in Round 10 and then the 36-point win in the Second Semi.
But SKOB have won 6 of their last 7 and will take some confidence from having led Xavs by 4 points at half time a fortnight ago. Their challenge now is to put four full quarters together and see if they can pull off a Grand Final Day upset.
You can watch the action LIVE & FREE on VAFA TV from 11.30am Friday!
And then it’s time for the highly-anticipated season finale!
2.30pm – PREMIER MEN’S GRAND FINAL: OLD BRIGHTON vs OLD SCOTCH
For just the third time this century, we have the same two teams meeting in consecutive Premier Men’s Grand Finals.
In 2025, it’s Old Brighton and Old Scotch running it back and there are captivating storylines on both sides.
Old Brighton (17-2) is chasing a piece of history that has slipped through their fingers twice in the past three seasons – their FIRST Premier Men’s premiership – in what will be their fourth A-Grade Grand Final.
Old Scotch (11-9) is chasing its eleventh Premier Men’s title, having ended a 46-year drought last season.
The Cards know all about Grand Finals slipping through their fingers, given they had lost 6 of their previous 7 premiership deciders over the past 90 years. It made last season’s triumph all the sweeter as they finally seized their opportunity for the first time since 1978.
If they can win it again, they’ll go back-to-back for the first time since their glorious four-in-a-row dynasty of 1931-34.
The Tonners enter as favourites, but the Cardinals are riding an incredible wave of momentum that has seen them survive five cut-throat finals in a row. A sixth is well within their capability.
What a premiership decider it promises to be!
Will it be back-to-back flags for Old Scotch, or can Old Brighton win their first top-flight premiership?
