The VAFA congratulates Felix Conboy from Melbourne High School Old Boys FC, who has been nominated as the Round 9 VAFA Men’s Rising Star.
At just 16 years of age, Felix has played eight senior games this year, kicking five goals and being named among the best on three occasions.
What the club said:
Felix is a Year 11 student at Melbourne High School and, notably, the captain of the footy team despite not being in his final year. He’s known for being caring, hardworking, and bringing a cheeky sense of humour to the group. In 2026 he joined MHSOBFC after coming through the West Footscray Roosters juniors, including representing in U15 WRJFL interleague. A Richmond supporter with Sam Lalor as his favourite player, he’s also a keen tennis player and enjoys cross-country and distance running. Prior to the his game on the weekend, he was at Federation Square watching the Socceroos take on the USA before backing it up with a strong Round 10 performance that led to a Rising Star nomination.
What the coach said:
Felix is easy to coach. He listens and works hard to improve, but mostly he’s competitive. If you line up next to him he’s going to want to beat you. This was evident in Q3 vs Canterbury when he created a stoppage from a 1v2, then 30 seconds later won a free kick, played on and laced our full forward. He has mostly played wing for us and loves sneaking forward for a shot on goal, but has been asking about adding other skills & roles to build his game which reflects his great attitude.
