Parkdale 12.14 (86) def Caulfield 0.0 (0)
Parkdale have secured the Division 3 minor premiership with a commanding victory over Caulfield on the weekend.
The Vultures shared the goal kicking honours with Emily Boddington, Georgia Collinson, Sienna Symons and Jess Welford all kicking two goals, while Breanna Allan kicked three in a dominant performance.
Caulfield coach Lachy Worthy reflected on his team’s performance constructively.
“It was a tough day at the office for our team. Parkdale were just too strong in the air and too quick around the ground for us.
“We battled hard with Olivia Keyte and Jess Van Es leading the way but, in the end, we weren’t able to connect as we would have liked. Despite the result there were a lot of positives to take out of this season as this very young and inexperienced squad continued to grow both individually and as a team.”
The win means Parkdale will play off with Hawthorn this weekend for a spot in the Grand Final.
Hawthorn 7.6 (48) def Old Yarra 4.1 (25)
Hawthorn have locked in their spot for a chance to make the Grand Final this weekend with a win over Old Yarra.
A fast start from the Hawks in attack and their ability to keep the Cobras scoreless in both the first and the last quarters set up the win and sees them finish on equal points with minor premiers Parkdale.
For the Cobras it was Alannah Murray who kicked three of her sides four goals. While Hawthorn skipper Tessa Bodin played a big role in securing the victory with three goals and Emogen Johnson kicked two alongside her.
Prahran/Collegians 3.3 (21) def Old Haileybury 1.8 (14)
Prahran/Collegians have ensured that they will face Old Haileybury again this week after clinching victory by seven points.
The Two Blue Lions kept the Hearts to just five points in the final three quarters of this game, holding down immensely well on defence.
Prahran/Collegians shared the scoring with a goal a piece from Sheldon Menzies, Aoife O’Driscoll and Annabel Schmidt. Whilst Vice-captain Gypsy Fowell kicked the Hearts only goal.
Old Haileybury coach David Lappage reflected on his side’s loss.
“It was a very scrappy game in the dew. We started well with Izzy Nazaretian and Gypsy Folwell looking dangerous up forward. Collegians/Prahran totally out played us in the second quarter to kick their three goals.
“In the second half it was a pressure game. In tight with two teams having a real crack.
“Amazingly, Prahran/Collegians ran out victors despite being scoreless for 3 quarters as Old Haileybury couldn’t capitalise finishing with 1.8. At the end of the day though, the better team won on the day.”
This weekend sees the two face off again in a sudden death semi-final.
