You Never Forget Your First – For the Love of the Game’s Round 1 Review
The VAFA’s back for 2026! Jason Bennett, Matty Donald & Brayden May take a long, lingering look at everything that happened across Round 1 of the competition in a jam-packed
I am coming to you from the inner chambers of Heathrow Airport, London, 36 hours into what has come to be an extremely arduous journey. Now I thought that being in a green and gold tracksuit would net the Jet a plethora of willing and able young ladies, however, the Jet’s famous locks are feeling increasingly parched and dare I say need to get wet ASAP. Things are starting to get increasingly heated as we just disembarked a plane that moved a total of two metres due to communication problems. The boys are looking for any solace they can, my fifth call to Deb Iezzi has quelled my nervousness, while McGuinness was last seen searching for an internet connection to check his hit count on facebook. The only happy man on this trip is SKOBs own Benny Dowd who hasn’t wiped the smile off his face since he saw his profile picture in the tour program. Let’s just say he is cannons were on full display. Jack ‘Woody’ Watts has the crowd enthralled after his fifteenth recollection of his round 18 BOG performance that gained him the coveted medal. While the team cannot complain too much about an overseas sporting tour, the forest green nylon tracksuits are not exactly comfortable while no one slept a wink after chuckles McGettigan kept the whole flight awake while sampling some of Qantas’s finest inflight entertainment. We can’t wait to get to Cork and have a run and get the legs moving again and our first encounter this Friday night against Bishopstown. Will keep you posted.
