RICHMOND CENTRAL ANNOUNCE GOONAN AS NEW SENIOR COACH

RICHMOND CENTRAL ANNOUNCE GOONAN AS NEW SENIOR COACH

Richmond Central have announced their new senior coach, see the club statement below:
The Richmond Central Amateur Football Club would like to introduce Marcus Goonan, who has been appointed as their senior coach for the 2014 season.
Marcus has spent the previous three seasons coaching at Beaumaris under the tutelage of Jason Mifsud. He served there as an U19’s coach when they finished third in the Premier U/19 Division, then coached the Reserves to the B Grade Grand Final and in 2013 was the Senior Assistant Coach at Premier Section.
Marcus was a senior player for RCAFC, and began his coaching career as the Snakes Reserves Coach in 2010 when they made the finals for the first time in several years.  He is determined to see the club continue to develop and has put together an enthusiastic young group to help build on the success that the club has had in recent years under Peter McBrearty, Bernie Lazzaro & Ron Nicholson.
“Richmond Central has all the pieces in place to become a higher division club – three senior sides, under 18’s, and a strong committee. I hope that my experiences will bring a new element to the club, and that we can all make the next step together” said Marcus.
The club’s president Warwick Bracken said “It’s exciting to have Marcus back. He’s seen us develop over the last few years, and we’ve been keeping an eye on him as well. We’re confident that the energy he’ll bring to the club will help all of our teams this year, and that we can continue our push for that elusive senior flag.”
After being Division 4 Grand Finalists in 2011 under Peter McBrearty, the Richmond Centrals have steadily progressed to have both their Senior & Reserves teams playing Division 3 finals in 2013. The club also launched their inaugural U/18 team in 2013 and then finished the season on a high note when they celebrated the Club 18’s Premiership at the end of a season in which Tim Pritchard’s team lost only one game.
The committee is confident that the foundation has been laid in recent years to enable Marcus and his team to take over the reins and maintain the upward trend of the past five years.
