Ormond have appointed Ashleigh Lever as their senior coach for the 2015 season.
Ashleigh was an assistant coach (defensive) for Premier club, De La Salle’s senior team in 2014, and has significant experience with pathway and junior teams, including assistant coach of the Sandringham Dragon’s TAC team and the VAFA’s U19 representative side in 2013.
In 2012, he was the coach of the Oakleigh AFC’s U18 premiership team and also doubled as that club’s senior assistant (defensive), whilst also assisting the Sandringham Dragon’s U16 development team.
“The Committee was keen to test the market for a coach who has had experience with a Premier club and who has a strong background of working with young footballers”, said Ormond President, Richard Simon. “Ashleigh ticks both of these boxes”.
“Even though Ashleigh has not yet had a senior coaching role, the Committee was very impressed with his ambition and drive to succeed as a senior coach”, said Simon.
“Ormond will have a relatively young playing list for the next couple of seasons, and the committee is really excited by the prospect of Ashleigh developing the group into a strong and successful team that will climb through the grades in coming seasons”.
