Nothern Blues handed St Johns their second loss for the season, beating the JOC’s by 33 points at W.R. Ruthven Reserve. The second-placed JOC’s had no answer for the fifth-placed Blues who kicked 20 goals for the game thanks to Lachlan McRedmond booting six in a match-winning performance. The win breaks a two-game losing streak for the Blues who remain fifth and two games clear of MHSOB in sixth.
Monash Gryphons fought off both Elsternwick and an inaccurate kicking display to run out 54-point winners at East Caulfield Reserve. Despite kicking 23 behinds for the match, their 17 goals were far too much for the Wickers, who could only manage 11 of their own. Ryan Pollock-Williams was best-on-ground, while Lucas Reynolds kicked six goals for the Gryphons. Justin Hunter snagged seven for the Wickers, who remain ninth on the ladder with only two wins.
Old Paradians made sure they stayed in touch with the top teams in Division 2, defeating MHSOB by 45 points at Garvey Oval. A nine goal to three second half proved the difference, with Michael Bellizia kicking six in a BOG performance. Both teams remain where they were on the ladder entering Round 10, at fourth and sixth, respectively.
Ivanhoe proved why they are the team to beat in 2015, smashing Richmond Central by 63 points at Ivanhoe Park. Mitch Lovell kicked five of the Hoes’ 21 majors, while Jake Munro continued his solid season with another two for the Snakes. Despite the loss, the Snakes remain seventh with four wins for the season.
Old Eltham Collegians registered their third win in a row and seventh for the season with a 47-point victory over South Melbourne Districts at Lindsay Hassett Oval. Clint Crooks set the tone early and ended up earning himself best-on-ground. Jordan Heis did his utmost to break his sides’ 10-match losing streak, snagging six goals for the Swans.
