Marcellin went one game clear of rival Monash Blues at the top of the Premier C table with a 22-point come-from-behind win at Frearson Oval. Trailing by 16 points at half time, the Eagles kicked six unanswered goals for the remainder of the match to run away with the win. Ashley Viney was named best for the Eagles, while Nick Petering continued his stellar goal kicking form with three for the Blues.
Oakleigh launched themselves back into the winner’s column with a 59-point win over PEGS at W.A. Scammell Reserve. Trevor Bromley and Aaron Cloke starred for the Krushers, kicking seven and five goals, respectively. The win keeps the Krushers in sixth position on the ladder and two games outside of the top four.
Old Ivanhoe registered their third win in a row with a hard-fought 13-point victory against Peninsula at Chelsworth Park. Richard Skok did the damage up forward for the Hoes with four majors, while Stefan Barbour snagged five for the Pirates. Although they’re running the third best percentage in Premier C, the Pirates sit fifth on the ladder and one game outside the top four.
Therry Penola produced the upset of the round when they ran over Old Haileybury by 23 points at John Pascoe Fawkner Reserve. Trailing by five points at the last break, the Lions piled on five goals to nil in the fourth quarter to run over the top of the fourth-placed Bloods. Jarrod Bannister starred for the Lions with five of their nine goals. Despite the loss, the Bloods remain one game clear in fourth.
Old Camberwell fought hard to record a 21-point come-from-behind victory against Williamstown CYMS in a high scoring affair at Fearon Reserve. Despite trailing at every break, the Wells sent through nine goals to three in the final quarter to win 22.11 (143) to 18.14 (122). James Howells dominated with nine majors, while Nick Ebinger kicked five for the CYs.
