The VAFA Wilson Women’s grand final venues and dates have been released ahead of the first-ever deciders on the 19th and 20th of August.
Development Division 2 and 4 will be decided on Saturday 19 August at Trevor Barker Oval before the William Buck Premier Women’s, Development Division 1 and 3 play off on Sunday 20 August at Sportscover Arena. The times of all grand finals will be released at a later date.
The top three in William Buck Premier Women’s are locked in ahead of the final home and away round this weekend, with SKOB Saints, Fitzroy-ACU and Marcellin set to be joined by either Old Trinity or Caulfield Grammarians. Both the T’s and Fields have secured eight wins each for the season but the T’s hold a significant percentage advantage of 122.52 – 66.21. The T’s face the sixth-placed Old Xaverians on Saturday, while the Fields will be up against it when they clash with Fitzroy-ACU.
West Brunswick and St Mary’s Salesian have obtained the double chance in Development Division 1, while Beaumaris, Old Geelong and Old Haileybury each sit with eight wins and are capable of claiming the final two spots. The Sharks and Ogs both play the top two sides this Saturday, while the Hearts host the eighth-placed Ormond.
Old Camberwell confirmed their favouritism in Development Division 2 over the weekend when they defeated Yarra Old Grammarians by 149 points at Gordon Barnard Reserve. Collegians will also enter the finals with a double chance, while UHS-VU, Ivanhoe and Old Carey will battle it out for third and fourth. The Vultures and Panthers will go head-to-head in the blockbuster at Brens Oval, while Ivanhoe can claim their top four position when they clash with the Bushrangers.
Ajax and Mazenod are primed to claim the double chance in Development Division 3 ahead of either Hampton Rovers, Old Mentonians or Melbourne University. The Mugars are currently in fifth and need to knock off the top-ranked Jackas this Sunday to try and claim a finals berth.
The top four in Development Division 4 is far from confirmed with just one win separating first and fifth. The Hawks currently sit atop the ladder on the same amount of points as South Melbourne Districts, but are closely followed by SKOB Saints who boast a far superior percentage than both sides above them. Swinburne University and De La Salle round out the top five and both sides have winnable games this weekend against Brunswick Renegades and Bulleen Templestowe, respectively.
