Parkside edged past North Brunswick in their Round 5 encounter, running out three-point winners at Allard Park. In what was a low-scoring affair, the Red Devils led by seven points at half time and did enough to hold on with their five goals to the Bulls’ six in the second half. Jack Hamilton starred with a BOG display for the Red Devils while Stephen Monteleone led from the front for the Bulls.
Manningham Cobras and Emmaus St Leo’s delivered a shootout at Bennettswood Sports Ground with the Cobras saluting by 23 points, 151-128. Leading by 15 points at half time, the Cobras kicked another 12 goals to 11 as both sides had little trouble in attack. Kane Maghamez top-scored with seven goals for the Cobras and another five teammates kicked multiples. Christopher Beluszar booted four up forward for the Animals and stalwart Paul Baranello was best afield.
Westbourne Grammarians proved the Truganina Train has certainly left the station with their second win on the trot, defeating Canterbury by 27 points at Westbourne Grammar. Trailing by 26 points at the first break, the Warriors ignited with 14 goals to seven thereafter. Agon Bahtiri kicked four majors for the Warriors and Patrick O’Brien nailed three in a BOG performance. Jake Rowe was a standout with four goals for the Cobras.
Aquinas maintained their unbeaten run and top-of-the-table standing with a 59-point victory over Richmond Central at Aquinas College. Scores were even at the first break before the Bloods exploded with seven unanswered goals in a match-winning second term. Tyson Noyes was best afield for the second time in three games and Josh Robertson kicked four. Luke James continued his strong form for the Snakes.
