The VAFA has released its fixture calendar for 2025, with all competitions to kick off on Saturday April 5 and play two rounds before the Easter Bye.
Four grading rounds will be applied to Under 19 Men’s, Thirds Divisional Mens, Premier B Women’s and Divisional Women’s in place of the former regrading process. Further information on this process will be communicated in due course.
Premier B Women’s Reserves will be temporarily removed in the interests of competitive balance, while Thirds Women’s will be added to the schedule, as will Under 19 Women’s for the first time, reflecting the growth in women’s participation coming up from junior ranks.
Subject to final team entries, there may also be additional U19 Men’s, Women’s Divisional, and Thirds Men’s sections.
All sections will have the King’s Birthday Bye on Saturday June 7, plus the Representative Football Bye for Big V matches to be played on Saturday July 12 & Sunday July 13.
This will once again be a mid-season Double Bye for the following sections: Premier Men’s, Under 19 Premier Men’s, Premier Women’s, and Divisional Women’s.
Finals will again be staggered to maximise visibility, exposure across all competitions, and greater access to premium venues, with Thirds Women’s and Under 19 Women’s to kick off the 2025 VAFA Finals Series on August 9-10.
A Pre-Finals Bye will be added for Premier Mens, while twilight finals will be trialled for Premier U19 Men’s.
The William Buck Premier Women’s Grand Final will be played on Sunday September 21, with the season to conclude with the William Buck Premier Men’s Grand Final on the Friday September 26 public holiday before the AFL Grand Final.
More details will be provided as they come to hand, but we’re already counting the days to VAFA action returning on Saturday April 5.
