The Premier B Women’s fixture has been released for the 2026 season, following last week’s section swap between Westbourne Grammarians (now Premier Women’s) and Old Melburnians (Premier B).
It will be a stacked 8-team competition as follows:
Beaumaris
Glen Eira/Old McKinnon (Division 1 Premiers 2025)
La Trobe University (Division 2 Premiers 2025)
Old Melburnians (Premier B Grand Finalists 2025)
Old Xaverians
Old Yarra Cobras
Parkside (Division 2 Grand Finalists 2025)
Port Melbourne Chargers
Beaumaris returns to Premier B armed with invaluable experience after gallantly stepping up to the top-tier last season. Galvanised by an extremely challenging 2025 both on and off the field, this team will be hardened and fiercely determined to make a clear statement in 2026.
Glen Eira/Old McKinnon will be hunting a premiership hat-trick after claiming the 2024 Division 2 title and the 2025 Division 1 crown. Coach Mel Kuys and her charges will be relishing the opportunity to capture their slice of VAFA history.
La Trobe University will also be chasing another premiership cup, stepping up to Premier B football after winning the 2025 Division 2 flag. Coach Sam Greene and her core group of players have stuck together and built something truly special in recent years. Now they turn their attention to Premier footy!
Old Melburnians shape as another likely contender, given they led the Premier B Women’s Grand Final at quarter-time last year. Can the Omlettes take that next step and collect the silverware in 2026?
Old Xaverians are always competitive, and their 2025 Premier B campaign was no exception, highlighted by a win over eventual finalist (and now Premier Women’s team) Westbourne. They’ll be looking to build on that foundation this season.
Old Yarra Cobras finished mid-table in 2025, after being regraded from Premier Women’s a month in. They found their feet and stormed home in Premier B, winning 4 of their last 5 games, including a thrilling final-round victory over Westbourne. The Cobras will be determined to continue that upward trajectory in 2026.
Parkside was one of the standout teams in Division 2 all season long, leading the Grand Final with 6 minutes to play before the Trobers booted the winner. The Devils now join La Trobe in leapfrogging Division 1 and straight into Premier B football – a great reward and recognition of the impressive development of both teams.
Port Melbourne Chargers were one of the VAFA’s great stories of 2025. They posted a 10-5 record in their inaugural season before falling agonisingly short of Westbourne in a thrilling First Semi Final. With another pre-season under their belt, their chemistry continues to grow, and they will fancy their chances of returning to September to win their club’s first final – and maybe more!
The 16-round home & away season will kick off on Saturday, April 18, and will feature two byes (June 6 and July 11).
The top 4 teams will qualify for finals, which will commence on the weekend of August 22-23, and culminate with the Premier B Women’s Grand Final on the weekend of September 5-6.
