Division 1 Women’s Round 6 Review

By Bailey Walsh · May 28, 2026
Division 1 Women’s Round 6 Review

Round 6 delivered another important weekend in Division 1 Women’s football, with Marcellin continuing to set the pace at the top of the ladder while several sides strengthened their finals hopes. Strong second-half performances proved the difference across multiple matches as teams looked to build momentum heading deeper into the season.

Power House vs Whitefriars

Power House’s ability to break the game open after half time proved the difference in a hard-fought contest against Whitefriars, with the home side running away 21-point winners after an even opening half.

Neither side could gain control early as both teams traded goals throughout the first two quarters, but Power House lifted their pressure and ball movement after the main break to create separation on the scoreboard.

Grace Read, Zoe Uwland and Caoilfhionn Culliton were influential across the ground for Power House, while Emma Doorley, Lily Butler-Woollard and Georgia McHolmes also impressed in the victory.

Whitefriars continued to compete strongly throughout the afternoon, with Kaitlyn Wallace and Caitlin Ryan leading the way. Carly Notting, Andrea Belmonte, Maeve Bohanna and Bree Whitehead were also among the visitors’ better contributors.

Lauren Boyle finished with two goals for Power House, while Sinead Doorley, Joelly Firmin, Cara Maher and Lisa McCombs all added singles. Elisha Wain kicked two goals for Whitefriars, while Maeve Bohanna and Bella Giannangelo each kicked one.

Ormond vs Oakleigh

Ormond kept themselves within reach of the top two after producing a dominant four-quarter performance to defeat Oakleigh by 41 points.

The Monders set the tone early, opening up a two-goal advantage at quarter time before continuing to control territory and possession for the remainder of the contest.

Maddi Wilson and Kitty Smyth were outstanding for Ormond, while Isabella Gietzmann continued her strong form in front of goal. Michaela Di Lecce, Olivia Steinfort and Tayla McAlroy also played important roles in the win.

Oakleigh battled hard despite the result, with Georgie Nancarrow, Sienna Bernardo and Tayla Halvy among their best. Lily Firth, Daisy Bird and Kaitlyn Sidopoulos also continued to work hard across the afternoon.

Gietzmann booted four goals for Ormond, while Indiana Harrison added two. Di Lecce and Izabela Ignjic each kicked one major. Jasmine Ballestrin and Sidopoulos were Oakleigh’s goal kickers.

Monash Blues vs La Trobe University

Monash Blues continued their strong season with a commanding 55-point victory over La Trobe University, with a dominant first half laying the platform for the result.

The Blues stormed to a 29-point lead by half time and never looked back, strengthening their place inside the top four while La Trobe remained without a win in 2026.

Sarah-Jade Rose and Hannah Konstanty starred for Monash Blues both around the contest and on the scoreboard, while Tiarna Jericho, Emily Conroy, Sydney Lock and Samantha Rodgers all made strong contributions.

Jessica Lowry battled hard for La Trobe University alongside Kaitlyn Ritchie and Ineka Hart. Makayla D’Angelo, Yasmine Budic and Phoebe Radford were also among the visitors’ best performers.

Konstanty and Rose each finished with three goals for the Blues, while Emily Chea, Rodgers and Caitlin Williams all kicked one. Hart kicked La Trobe University’s only goal of the afternoon.

Marcellin vs Old Carey

Marcellin maintained top spot on the ladder after a powerful third-quarter performance helped secure victory over Old Carey.

After an even opening half, Marcellin broke the game open in the premiership quarter, gaining control around the contest and capitalising on their opportunities going forward.

Jennae Wakefield and Laura Robertson led the way for the ladder leaders, while Imogen Kendal, Charlotte McGilp, T Zagontinos and Tania Carpinteri were also instrumental in the win.

Old Carey continued to fight hard throughout the match, with Madi Coleman and Rose Chiaramonte among their strongest contributors. Lucy Wynne, Francesca Anderson, Lia Kelvie and Lucy Woolhouse also battled strongly.

Zagontinos finished with two goals for Marcellin, while Ava Menzies, Robertson, Maddy Rush and Wakefield each kicked one. Ally Forrest and Elin Simpson kicked a goal apiece for Old Carey.
