The Kew Football Club is excited to announce that Jess Burger has been appointed as the new Senior Women’s Coach for 2022.
The appointment is significant for the Kew Football Club as Jess brings a new strategic vision as well as an abundance of elite-level football knowledge and experience to the role, adding to our already successful Women’s football program.
Jess also works at Collingwood FC where she has recently been appointed to the top job of Head of Women’s Football, adding to the extensive resumé that she has been building in both the AFL and AFLW programmes at Collingwood FC over the years.
Jess is also an AFLW Competition Committee Member.
“Burgs” who went to school at Genazzano and grew up locally in Kew playing her junior footy at the Kew Rovers Football Club was also a foundation player in our first ever Senior Women’s footy side back in 2014. Jess has been a genuine star on and off the field since then, playing a huge role in the Kew Football Club’s historical first ever Women’s Premiership in 2016.
Kew FC President, Michael Cochrane had the following to say on Jess’ appointment:
“Jess has been at Kew FC since the inception of our women’s squad so to have someone take over the reigns as our Senior Women’s Coach who is at the elite level in her role as Head of Women’s Football at Collingwood FC but already a loyal Kew FC person, it represents a really exciting time for our women’s group and the entire footy club.”
“We have full confidence in Burgs as a strong communicator, coach and a leader. She is respected around the club and by the female playing group, and brings a new strategic vision for Kew FC as we continue to aspire to be the destination community club in the VAFA.”
