The VAFA wishes to congratulate the 22 players selected in the 2022 William Buck Premier Women’s Team of the Year after terrific individual seasons culminating in a position in this side.
The side is coached by St Kevin’s Tom Purcell who guided his team to Premiership glory for a second time in the previous two completed seasons.
Five members of the Premiership winning St Kevin’s side are part of the team, whilst runners-up Kew also have five players represented.
After taking out the sharpshooter award for the year, as well as being the Premiership co-captain, Sarah Cameron caps off a stellar year being named in the team for the third time in her career, and since the inception of the Women’s Team of the Year in 2019.
She will also be the one leading the team with the captaincy badge next to her name. Cameron’s fellow teammate Bree Doyle has also earned selection for the third time. As well as Alana Pane from Marcellin who is now a three-time member.
Dakota Villiva has been named her vice-captain, in her debut season with the Bears she was awarded the 2022 William Buck Premier Women’s best and fairest player in the competition to go alongside this honour.
Lily Barr and Margie Gleeson are now two-time members of the Team of the Year.

The selection process for all sections changed this year with coaches given the opportunity to nominate their own players for consideration while also choosing players from opposition teams. This, in conjunction with VAFA Media nominations, formed a more rounded selection committee.
